Bharat Sundar started learning basics in carnatic music at the age of 6 with Smt. Gayathri Mahesh. She is a senior disciple of Shri.O.S.Thiagarajan. He is currently learning from Smt. Leelavathi Gopalakrishnan, a Vidhushi disciple of Shri.T.S.Balu who is a direct disciple of Veteran musician Sangeetha Kalanidhi Shri.GNB. Her son Shri. G Srikanth also plays a major role in training Bharat Sundar. He had special training in Pallavi from Trichy Shri.J.Venkatraman and Shri.Srimushnam Rajarao.
He has won 1st Prize in the All India Radio carnatic music competion held in 2006 and awarded as a ‘B grade’ artist. He is also the winner of the first Carnatic Idol competition in 2010. Since then he grew in popularity & has gathered a huge fan following. He is a winner of several competitions & awards.

Awarded the title Yuva Kala Vipanchi by the organization VIPANCHI on 31st December 2007
Best Performance for 2006 Junior Category by Indian Fine Arts, Chennai.
He has won I st Prize in the All India Radio carnatic music competion held in 2006 and awarded as a ‘B grade’ artist.
Recipient of CCRT (Centre for Cultural Resources and Training), Government of India, Scholarship
He has won many prizes in the competitions organized by various Sabhas at Chennai. (Music Academy, RR Sabha, Mylapore Fine Arts, Indian Fine arts, Hamsadwani etc.,)
Best vocalist award by Sri.Krishnagana Sabha, Gokulashtami music festival in the year 2004
Won 1st Prize Tambura in Smt.Mangalam Ganapathi’s compositions in the year 2005.
Won 1st Prize Tambura in the Thyagaraja compositions organized by Sri.Raja Annamalaipuram Baktha Jana Sabha in the year 2005
Won in the competition organized by Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nadaga Mandram and performed at Rama Gana Sabha, Gopichettipalayam, Sivakasi Fine Arts, Madurai Sadguru Sangeetha Samajam and RR Sabha, Chennai..
Won in the All India Radio devotional music competition and awarded as B Grade AIR artist in devotional music in the year 2005.
Awarded the title Bala Baskara by VDS Arts Academy in the year 2005
