Welcome to Spring 2008 season
Sangeetha is a not-for-profit society with a mission to promote Indian Classical Music in the State of Missouri, particularly in the metropolitan area of St. Louis through presentation of high quality Indian classical music concerts by India’s recognized and internationally acclaimed artistes and emerging artistes of exceptional talent.
Sangeetha’s mission and goals can be summarized into three broad aspects – promoting Indian classical music, education and community involvement.
Promoting Indian Classical Music -
with presentation of premier Indian classical music concerts, both by stalwarts
and emerging artistes of exceptional talent
Education – Disseminating
information on Indian classical music in the form of concert brochures,
internet website, lecture demonstrations on Indian classical music by visiting
artistes
Community involvement - by co-sponsoring local events that present local artistes, and working with local educational and arts organizations in co-promoting and presenting Indian classical music concerts.
In addition to staging concerts, our goals are to facilitate education and better understanding of Indian classical music within local populace by conducting workshops and/or lecture-cum-demonstration and community outreach efforts to build a cultural bridge between Indian and American musical arts world. Sangeetha's goals are also to provide a platform for talented individuals within the local community to participate and perform during important events associated with Indian tradition.
Efforts are on to build a repository of audio recordings of past concerts for circulation to members for enjoyment and appreciation of Indian classical music.
