Grandsons of the legendary
Gottuvadyam Narayana Iyengar, Shashikiran and Ganesh are cousins who perform as
a vocal duo N. Shashikiran learnt from stalwarts like Sangita Kalanidhis T. Brinda & T. Viswanathan and Calcutta K.S. Krishnamurthy. Ganesh was trained by his maternal uncle 'Chitravina' Narasimhan and cousin Ravikiran. He also had the privilege of learning from Sangita Kalanidhi T. Brinda. Both were considered child prodigies and could identify numerous ragas and talas and answer numerous technical questions pertaining to Carnatic music at the tender age of two. M. Shrinivas learnt from vocal music from Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri B. Rajam Iyer
and Calcutta Sri S. Krishnamurthy. He was selected by the Indian Foundation for
Performing Arts to take intensive training in concert techniques from the
legendary violinist Lalgudi Sri G. Jayaraman. M. Shrinivas is an A grade artist
of the All India Radio and has several awards to his credit. He has received
several best performance awards at music festivals and has been felicitated by
the Tamil Nadu government.
Vasudevan Namboodiri is a senior disciple of Shri Trichur C. Narendran, Shri Palghat Rajamani (disciple and son of the legendary Palghat Mani Iyer) and Prof. Mavelikara Velukutty Nair. He has accompanied artists widely in India and the USA. Mr. Vasudevan is working as a scientist at USEPA, Cincinnati and has a Ph.D in Chemistry, from IIT Madras. He is also proficient in ghatam, edakka and kanjira. |
